Sign Stolen?

Quote:
I can't see a sign like that really having an influence on a child being raised in a religious household. My kids seeing signs that say "Jesus is Lord" doesn't mean that they are going to question their religious upbringing even though it directly contradicts what they have been raised to believe. I've had plenty of so-called christians tell me I am going to hell for what I believe, so it's not just this particular group that says inflammatory things about other people's beliefs. I think that we need to just keep all religious postings and displays off of government property, then we wouldn't have this issue.

I think the problems with most religions is that is closes your mind, (Notice, not 'closed-minded') to all other things. Christians have their idea of how the world works, and think that everyone else is wrong; so do Hindu's and Shinto's and everyone else. I can't remember exactly the planet's name in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but they believe that they were sneezed into existance by a being called the Great Arkelseisure!~

They would think that the rest of you are silly and wrong, just as I'm sure you'd say the same of them! The Manger is basically pointing at everyone else and saying "Your beliefs are wrong!", just not in so many words, at least that's the feeling I get when I see them. I don't agree with it, so I try and not focus on them, I live and let live, I don't go around focusing on things that bother me.

Roosterboy, how would YOU reword the sign? Not trying to be mean, I'm just curious and want to understand you better~

Wow...you have a pretty cynical view of the world, its' people and religion.

Isn't that basically true though? I mean, don't we all think that our particular religion or lack of religion is the truth? If you don't, then why believe in it?

I got this email from a christian friend. I don't agree with it anymore than I do the sign. They are both negative towards someone elses beliefs.
I don't know if this is real or not but it is a good story!!

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAYI

In Florida, an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and
Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case
against Christians, Jews and observances of their holy days.

The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized
days. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the
passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,

"Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your
honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have
Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and
Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client
counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or
holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1

states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.'

Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no
God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is
adjourned.

I will go ahead and make a comment that may or not be popular. One of the things, to me, that sets the Christian faith apart, is that we are not to be judgmental - love all as Christ loves you. Accept and love everyone. I think where things go wrong, is the nuts that can't do that!!! So, when I see posts that judge others for their beliefs, I have to shake my head. Can't Christians be HAPPY they don't have to be the judge??? How easy is it to just accept and love everyone whether you agree with them or not. The judgment seat is where they have to answer - not to you or me!

I didn't think I was being cynical, and I'm sorry if I came across that way. I'm just pointing out that each religion has their own idea of how everything came about and works, and I think that's true?

No, it isn't real. It is, however, one of the favorite things of churches....at least around here...to post on their little signs toward the end of March. I have never figured out how they think they can get me in their door and convince me they are right by telling me I am a fool.

I believe that anybody who has the audacity to think they know it all, is very much mistaken, no matter what your religion or belief structure. Why anyone would take the time to actively tear down someone's faith or belief structure is beyond me. This country was founded on many principals involving freedom of religion. To deny or denigrade one's practice of religion is just plain wrong. Whatever happened to tolerance in this country?
