Signature rules question?

Hey peeps. I haven't seen anything in the rules section in regard to signatures. What are we limited to? Am I able to link to an auction that I would have running on BYC? Am I allowed to link to my Etsy page? (I do pay for banner advertising on here)

Great question! Yes, linking to one of your BYC listings, or even to the link in your profile to all your current listings is fine.

Linking to your Etsy page from your signature is fine too.

I haven't seen images in signatures. I'm assuming those are not allowed because of the problems with pages loading for those who have slower connections. Correct? I apologize if my questions are redundant!

p.s. I just realized that you co-wrote my Chicken Coops for Dummies book! It's great! I plan on building the largest coop you feature. I recommend the book to everyone.

Cool, thanks for the kudos on the book! Would love for you to review it on Amazon (you can do so even if you didn't buy it there).

Regarding sigs and images: Right, those aren't allowed because they would be too hard to police, would cause a problem for our dialup friends, and they tend to look really messy on long threads.

I just signed into Amazon and read the existing comments. I'm going to write one up and submit it, but I'm going to take some time to write it. I just don't want it to be a "This book is good." kind of review.

Yes, there are limits. We are enforcing as they are reported or a Staff member stumbles across it.


1) We don't allow linking to any other message boards, yahoo groups and Facebook groups.
2) We do allow Personal (non business related) Facebook links or blogs.
3) We allow business links, but only for Platinum Poultry Members. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/byc-memberships-help-support-backyardchickens
4) We do not allow links to off-site auctions or competing selling sites.

This is a guideline and not all inclusive. We can remove content if it is inappropriate or feel it violates the spirit of the guidelines.

It appears you are calling the Owner a liar... In post #2 above the Owner says
"Linking to your Etsy page from your signature is fine too."

The post you reference is 2 years old and like most things, our rules and guidelines evolve as this has.
