Signs of Spring.

No sign of spring here. We had a low of 4 this a.m. We are still running temps in the 20's and low 30's which is below our "normal" temps.
We should have been running temps in the 40's by now. We expect snow for the next 3 days and possibly a "warm up" in the low 30's for next week. UGH! Don't talk to me about Global Warming. :thun

ooo, a bunch of typo's posting past my dinner time.

Those flowers are gorgeous Ruth!! Like Lee, all we have around here are a few daffodils!! I do need to cut my "weeds" this weekend and trim back my grapevine so that when spring does get here, everything will grow like crazy!!

I've noticed my chickens spending alot more time out in the garden & pasture. The wood ducks are back & checking out the trees to nest in.I've been watching the Canadian geese heading their way up north. The Jerusalem artichokes are starting to come up out of the ground, the chickens go crazy for their leaves.
The farmland behind our place has patches of these tiny little purple flowers growing

OMG I am soooo jealous. We had a high of 12 degrees today and we got 7" of snow yesterday. I am also hearing we may get more next week

There is hope though, the robins have come back but I assumed they are just dumb or confused. Why would they come back up this early.
We also tend to jump into summer here. Our "spring" is really "mud" season.

Hey Bayou- I would love to have some of your Jerusalem artichokes if you ever need to thin them out. I have lots of places that they would do well and I know you say the chickens love them and I have been reading about them in my gardening books. So keep me in mind if you have too many. Do you ever cook and eat them yourself, according to books they are supposed to be very good.

Thanks,
Monique

Hi Monique,
I've had artichokes in salads & my fav is in stir fry.

They are like a water chestnut, but with a nutty flavor to them. Very good eating.
