Silence Is Not Golden Here

Yes!! You're winning at momming!

He could spend hours with the chickens. He likes to feed them, chase them, talk to them. Which is hilarious because he was terrified of them when we first got them as day olds. Now they're almost full grown and still chases them down to pick them up. I guess playing acting chicken is just part of his obsession!

Love it so much! Sounds like you're raising him right for sure!

Snagged these for $.50 from TSC bc they're probably dead. Anyway I'd really like to see if I can save them. Any tips? Btw these are those little roots plant cuttings you can buy in the bag.

Go maul a willow tree. Snip off a pound or so of fresh green shoots, new growth only, from the tips of branches. Dump those shoots into a five gallon bucket, fill it with water, and let it sit for a couple days. You can put some shoots in a small container with some water and soak the roots on the plants in it for a day, too, just for a kickstarter. Water the plants from the 'Willow Tea' bucket, adding more water as needed, and removing/chopping up any willow clippings that start putting on roots. They'll do that - even submerged in water. Willows are crazy.

Are you tricking me right now? I need to know bc I'll be searching for a willow tomorrow? Now this is the kind of "trick up the sleeve" I was hoping someone would share!!! So the water like will transfer the willows super rooting power to the other plants? I am way too excited about this! Thank you!

Yep! It has a chemical in the new growth that leeches out into the water, and promotes rooting in plants that are watered with it. It's also great for rooting fresh cuttings.

Yep, that's how it works, I mean... no, it's not a trick.

So... I didn't sell 11 chickens today. The guy messaged me at Noon and said he would let me know when he dropped his son off so I would have an idea of when he would get here. I haven't heard a word from him since.

So, I had a lady message me earlier today about some chickens. She wants 2 Buffs, 2 New Hampshires, 2 of my Mixed pullets, and 1 of my Bantam Cochin/Choc Orp Cockerels.

So, I pulled 2 of the Buffs I promised to to the no-show aside for the night (I put them in a crate inside a secure coop I have some chicks in) and I'm going to catch the other 4 birds in the morning. She said she will be here around noon. I hope she shows.

We just moved our surviving hens into the panel hoop run. Praying like mad that the fox who will inevitably return tonight does not challenge it too much.
If I lose any more birds to that fox I am going to go apeshit. Might even have animal control come and take care of it since I have the right to defend my livestock.

What do y'all think of this?
(True story from just yesterday)

What's sketchy is that yesterday we had some couple we had never seen (they don't live here) drive around the circle twice and both times slowed down and stared at us and our chickens.
This fox thing that attacked was really really big for a fox. I wonder if it was a man made hybrid. It was extremely strong, too.
