Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

Everyone loves pics and giving advice.  I posted pics and they were very helpful!!

Oh awesome! I love looking at all the pictures too! I have been trying to compile what they should "look" like for show, but hard to compare to mine since they are unbearded.
Here are a few pics of my white, buff, and black hen. All about the same age(though the black is older) they were given to me by a friend who had them as pets. I was curious if they could be more?! The white and buff I believe look the best but I think my buff is the better of all of them.

Any input would be great!!! So sorry for all the technical difficulties technology is always smarter then me bahaha

I will at least enjoy the pictures :)  Sometimes  the difference between show and breeder quality is hard to tell from pictures and even pet to breeder quality can be difficult if it is from something like a missing toe! Im sure you can get some general opinions though. Glad you got it figured out. Sometimes the process is a pain..

They all have 5 toes the ones I am most interested to hear about are the white and buff!! I really appropriate everything!! Ik ugh technology haha

Your buff looks great to me =) She's very rpetty, The other two, their crests are too small but they are cute as well =) Think you could get a good wing shot of the buff and a foot shot? The white looks to have slip wing, I can see a gap. The black doesn't have enough foot feathering.

edit: I can actually see the buff's feet, her foot feathering isn't the best either. Here is a picture of my buff, you can see her feathering, pretty much just remove the beard and you have a non-bearded

They would probably do decent in fair show, but I don't know if they are breeding quality.

Hey ket806 welcome to the world of silkies...don't worry about what people say ... most times they don't mean it and it always reads different...ask away and learn what you can...love your sizzle...so cool looking...

Well hello thank you I am very excited to start:) thank you he is a cutie!! I got him along with the silkies and didn't know much about him but I thought I'd give him a try! I was told he was a cross from a frizzle and a silkie. He has the softness of the silkie an comb and toes:) and of course the frizzle look:)

I like her too:) I thought so do you think their crests can bloom after a molt? I sure can I will get a shot of both wings and her feet:) i thought the whites wings looked wierd but wasn't sure if it was because she was about to flap or what. Does slip wing mean they are too far apart? I figured the black girl was a long shot lol but I didn't want to leave her out haha! Thank you oh so much for your input it helped tremendously and also assured some things I had right:) I will get those pics up in just a moment

I agree, the buff is probably the nicest. They look very much like my first silkies, cute but not show quality. If you are REALLY interested in showing you might want to either buy a breeder quality pair from a good breeder and breed your own or even hatch some eggs... :) No matter the quality they are just fun to have around ! In the mean time you can join the Silkie club and start learning about the standard and showing. Though I have had silkies in the past I am staring over and relearning everything almost!

I have to disagree.  Everything else being equal, I'd take the bird with the wrong number of toes over one with a double toenail (regardless of whether it is a lobster claw or parallel pair from the same nailbed.  Not a bird with 4 or 9 or 11 toes (or 4+6) can't be shown, but can be a breeder.

May I ask what's wrong with a double nail? I haven't ever heard of that(haven't really done this long). Also if you breed a bird with more toes is there a chance the offspring will have more as well? Also what is a lobster claw?
