Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

Not over the border he couldn't - and chicks can't be show quality technically.

i thought hatcheries could

and there not like silkies there lot better chance of getting nice birds because they breed trueer
I breed Ameraucana bantams and got a really crappy male out of some really nice parents.

I think whites would have better chances of being higher quality. On his site though, they say they don't ship over to Canada, and they don't even have whites.

If you have ANY interest in Ameraucanas, Frank is the man to go to. Full stop.(That man knows how to build a chicken.)
Would he go to every National we have? We have one locally next year. Maybe he will bring some if I pay him in advance.

That way I don't have to suffer the smell. I took 17 birds to our provincial show - and It was so bad.. You don't even know.. Like a car full of broody poop. I gagged.

lol

I have a friend that is seriously into standard (LF) Rocks and quite successful with them too. There really WERE some kickass White Rocks at the Nationals this year and some serious size. (More cushion maybe than is ideal according to some but can't deny the bulk.)

John Blehm knows what is required to import birds and he does it quite legally. He can't ship them over the border but he will ship with paperwork to a border town. You pick them up and do the import. All good. He is popular with Canadians.

These are the two new blacks I got. Love the type on the rooster. His crest is really on the small side, but the pullet has a big crest, so I think it should work out great. :) The owner also told me that the rooster's crest had been pulled out, so maybe it's bigger than I think...? Pretty happy so far.
Awesome, Hawkeye!!! Great type, and super comb too! Lovely hen! How very exciting!!
