I got 6 Silkies last Spring and asked the same question. How can you tell the rooster from the hen? I was told by several people with Sikies you have to wait till it either crows or lays an egg. Not much help. I did notice as they grew one grew taller. and bigger. So I'm guessing if any are getting bigger/taller it may be a he. I was lucky, I got one rooster and five hens. Now I can raise a few from eggs.
