When can I separate them from their mom.

how old are they now? and why do you want to ?moma will let them know when its time to leave the nest so to speak. I think its much easier to the the hen do all the work keeping them warm and fed.

They are about four to six weeks old. My cousin gave them to me and was unsure of when they hatched. I'm keeping them in a cage in my coop. However I'd like to separate them so the hen can find her place in the pecking order among my other hens, as well as being able to give the chicks more feed to better encourage growth. I'd like to have the mom back in production mode when I introduce her chicks to the flock. Well that's what I was thinking. Is it a good idea or not? If not how will I know the mom is done with them, being that they're in a cage I dont want her doing damage to them.
