i rescued this hen at the shelter about a month ago. She is super sweet and lovable how, follows me around the yard and comes when called. I was doing some research as to her breed and saw that a Silkie Cochin cross who looked just like her. Is it possible that’s what she is? I’d say she definitely is a silkie mix, however I don’t know if there’s any Cochin mixed in. I’d lean towards no, only because my silkie cochin mixes have tail feathers that slope downwards not up like yours.

A pretty girl for sure though! And how lucky that she’s so friendly! :)

What makes her Silkie tho, she has feathers on her feet and a bit of head floof but other than that I see no Silkie characters. Everyone says she a Silkie cross but what makes her feathers smooth? Hmm so much to ponder on

My guess would be Silkie/Serama here’s what’s my Silkie/Serama looked like.

The poof oh their has been selectively bred out of them through hawks . But they still have 5toes and black skin .:) They also have a little American game bird and cochin in them .

She also has black skin and a walnut comb. Her overall shape is similar to a silkie.
Silkie feathering is a recessive trait, so won't show up in first generation crosses.
