I also have a silkie Cochin mix that I’m wondering what will look like as it ages. The mom is a pure bred black silkie and the dad is a partridge Cochin. The chick just hatched out a few days ago and is black and red.

Very cute! Since they don’t have regular silkie feathering it should be slightly easier to determine sex but since they are still silkies could still be months.

Because they also have other breeds in the mix their looks can vary greatly but in my experience the silkie gene appears to be a dominant trait, one can usually tell when a bird is part silkie.
