Hi, sending a picture of my two silkies. The darker one I’m pretty show is trying to crow but it’s more of a loud ca-caw than a cockadoodle doo. He/she is huge compared to the paint one and has thicker feet. Any chance he could still be a hen before I give him back to the farm I got him from? He is always rushing up and down the coop too.

The paint one I’ve always thought was a hen as she is smaller and has more of a v shaped cone. However, she is very confident and quacks like a duck. Not sure if it’s because I hatched him/her?

Thoughts please?

How old are they? Silkies are very hard to sex when young, but there are some key differences that show as they mature.

I'd say the 2nd is a pullet.
Gorgeous paint by the way! I love those big black spots! I hope my paints will look like that when I start breeding paints.
