Again, still too young to know definitively, but I would lean with male due to the wideness on its comb area. Usually girls won't get that big of an area. There's where a nice walnut comb may be growing.

Okay thank you. I will take more pictures in two weeks from nowI have 11 this age, and some have a wide comb area, and some don't have anything there. One has this and is getting wattles. Yours isn't. I can't decide on my own yet what they are, but there's one I know for sure. Let's give them all another week or two and re-evaluate.![]()
hey it’s been two weeks, do you want to compare them all now?I have 11 this age, and some have a wide comb area, and some don't have anything there. One has this and is getting wattles. Yours isn't. I'm about ready to let them out to go free-range, so I'm going to grab each one and check mine. Post yours when you can, and let's try!hey it’s been two weeks, do you want to compare them all now?

well i’ve seen a lot of silkies who are pullets and have wattles at this age so maybe the one you think is a rooster could be a hen.You could be right but I'm still not sure enough to say one way or the other.
Here's one of mine a month older than yours. I was hoping it was a cockerel, but pretty sure it is a pullet. I've been trying to get a chocolate roo and it's not been working out.

And bad pictures but this one I was hoping was a pullet and he's a cockerel. He has wattles that aren't showing but they're there.

Since I'm here, does anyone want to hazard a guess about my new silkies? We looked through several chicks that were hatched this spring and compared. We looked mainly for small or non-existent combs and neater crests. Also compared to the adults for clues. I settled on these two. Hardly any combs, nice neat crests, didn't stand up straight and tall (like one of my last ones did). I would guess they are 3 months old at least, probably more like 4.
The only thing throwing me off is the partridge colored one has some longer pointier feathers coming out of the tail. Im going to be so disappointed if the only other partridge colored chick the breeder had is also a rooShe did say I can keep coming back to switch out if I need to but I'd so rather not!
