My Isabrown has 6 babies. They follow her around the yard and everyone is getting along swimmingly.
Tonight I was closing the hatches and "tucked" everybody in. I noticed my Silkie hen all puffed out, laying on the floor. Considering I have another Isa that has gone broody, I do NOT need another broody hen. Anyway a closer look revealed 6 babies cuddled underneath her. So has the mother hen abandoned them or is the silkie mama just helping out?? It certainly is adorable but I was shocked to see it.
The first hatched chicks are 5 weeks tomorrow.
