My 1 year old silkie chicken has been having seizures since mid January, so around two months. At first she was acting strange and we brought her in and separated from the others. She wasn't cleaning herself so we gave her an epsom salt bath and noticed an injury on her foot. The foot was swollen, we have been treating it with watered down bleach and a wrap for about a month. The swelling has gone down quite a bit, but not completely. We change the dressing twice a day. If she is not given tylan 50 she ends up having a least two seizures every other day. It has not been constant. Her seizures consist of flapping her wings, shaking, and her head flops. We have her on B complex and multivitamins.

I am sorry she isn't doing well.
How much Tylan and how often are you giving it?

Can you post a few pictures of her foot?

How are you administering the vitamins and what do you feed her?
Is she eating on her own?

Hi Texas Kiki- great name! It’s my youngest daughters nickname. To be honest, my middle daughter (13 years) wrote this post hopeful to save their “baby.”
The silkie get fresh vitamins in her water daily. Brand is the Rooster Booster and the vitamin B complex also goes in the water. Since the vitamin B is water soluable and you can’t over dose on it I have been putting in 2 caps per one litter of water. She is eating on her own, crumbles, scratch on occasion, and an egg when she will eat it. I think she’s sick of eating them and will often leave it untouched. On the days she has the seizure like activity I find she does not eat or drink afterward. The next day when she is more alert she will resume.
As for the tylan 50, she is on the petite size so I was giving her 0.3ml injection. She has had multiple rounds since January. When this all started and it was all just a guessing game, trying every ditch effort, she recieved it twice a day for 14 days. When we found her foot abscess she went back on it twice daily for 3 days then I decreased it to once daily for the next 4 days for a total length of a week. Just to clarify my daughters post when we brought her inside it was due to her not acting right. She was off, can’t really describe it other than not her peppy self. The lack of cleaning herself came about 3 weeks after she moved inside which resulted in the bath and finding the leg abscess. Not sure if the leg was there prior or developed due to her being fatigued and laying around more than normal due to not feeling well but at that point she had completed the 2 weeks of tylan and was still “off.”
I can get a picture in the morning with the next dressing change. I do greatly appreciate any help. My girls love this hen. Also she is one of 60 chickens, and only she is acting this way. She is caged with 2 other chicks with disabilities to keep her company so she’s not lonley. She is the only one with these symptoms which kind rules out environmental factors. Again thank you in advance! Picture to follow in the morning.
