Silkie Looking Bald on Face

Lol no marshmallow and no babies. How long would I leave her in the wire cage and should I pull
The cage out of the coop totally and put her in the garage or keep her in there with the rest of them
I'd put her in whichever has the colder floor, and unfortunately, there's no set period as to how long it takes to break a broody. Just release her every so often. (once every 4-5 days, maybe?) When she stops heading back to the nest box, you've succeeded!

Ok checked for mites and dont see any but her face obviously has had her feathers plucked out or I hope thats all it is. I’m going to put her in a wire cage tonight for a few days to see if I can break her. She seems spunky and gets out and eats and drinks but goes right back to the next and gets very upset when the other girls come near it. So when I put her in the cage with no nesting material. Can the cage just sit on the garage floor or does it have to be elevated like I have read somewhere before. The wires seem like they would hurt her little feet to stand on if sh were elevated? Last question, her head feathers are then and grey and her undercoat is grey, is this normal or is there something else going on. She is a solid black silkie normally

Bare wire encourages the circulation of air, which in turn cools her belly and stops hormones, thus stopping her broodiness more quickly. It doesn't hurt them to stand on wire--people raise quail on wire all the time, and I keep some of my breeding stock in rabbit cages when I want a particular pairing. They go pretty freely between the little wire run and the wooden doghouse. Obviously, your wire floor should have decently fine wire (1/2 inch is acceptable, 1/4 inch is better.)

No idea. How old is she?

She is about 7 months old. She didn’t look this way until recently being broodie
