Silkie Lovers, Show Off Your Fuzzy Chickens Here?!

Pics
Nice autosomal red.

Depending on where you got it, your chicken is probably a silkie cross, but could be a satin silkie.

There aren't any varieties of silkies with single combs. Except for hatchery quality ones.
Single combs have been reported to pop up in purebred, show lines. Single combs literally can pop up in the purest bloodlines.

No more genetics stuff after this, please?

Indeed they are, I've been telling them that they have to grow up as nice strong pullets...not cockerels :lau

Yes, but only if they have the recessive single comb gene. And, that's true, it can pop up in show lines. Especially for breeds with rose combs. However, it's pretty rare and undesirable for anyone wanting to breed for show.

That's all I was trying to point out before, but somebody completely disagrees with me on that.

Hi does any Silkie experts have any advice with regard to Gold Silkie breeding? I have a trio of uk standard golds and would love to hear everyone’s opinions with moving forward thanks!

I can try and help out!

I'm also from the UK and breed and show Silkies. I have golds (both dark and light) but they are not my main focus, my whites are.

However I can try and help with any questions you have!

Hi thanks for the reply! I was just wondering how I could darken their gold colour pigmentation throughout their body evenly without bringing too much black back into them I was planning on showing in the future and just curious if it’s through selective breeding and just breeding together the best looking young? Any advice appreciated Many thanks
