Hi I’m new to keeping chickens
I have 4 silkie chickens and 1 silkie cross bantam cockrel. (Still unsure of the sex of all the silkies ... but they don’t crow yet)

I bought them 11th June this year (this years young)
I feed them layers pellets
I’ve been abit lapse on the grit to be honest

one of my silkies started with putting its foot down funny like it had a dead foot and dragging it (1 week ago) I thought maybe it had broken a toe or something or sprained its foot and it would get better
I cleaned it’s foot etc and couldn’t find anything on a thorough check

today I’ve noticed It’s hobbling terrible and doesn’t want to move around much and ia barely walking and all balance is affected.
I have seen the bird eat and drink. Poops are hard. Then ‘cecal’ ?

My dad keeps pigeons and said nothings broken? And he thinks it’s calcium deficient and I need to get some calcium in the bird quick as it’s “gone off it’s legs”

please help me with a POA. And brands of calcium etc if you think this is the reason?

The pictures I have won’t help I have a video but as this is my first post and just signed up. Not sure how to put a video on here

Nutrition is important and they should not be fed layer feed until they actually start laying. You should be feeding them grower or all flock. As far as the lameness the first thing that came to my mind was if they were vaccinated for Marek's Disease? Does his wings operate ok? I would defiantly social distance it in a cage with food and water to keep it safe and possibly it may give it achance to heal if its something mechanical happening.

Sorry about your silkie, but I also think that he may have Mareks. They may display a numb leg with curled under toes as one of the possibly symptoms. It never hurts to offer some vitamin B complex or a vitamin that contains riboflavin (B2) just in case of a deficiency. A leg injury with nerve damage also could be possible. It is too late to vaccinate your other chickens, since they have been exposed. The vaccine takes 2-3 weeks to take effect, and it is best to vaccinate any new chicks to your flock while keeping them from any exposure to feather dander or dust around your coop and environment.

Oh the poor boy! Can you put him in a little area or cage so he doesn't have to walk anywhere? With food and water beside him. And isolate in case it's a disease that's contagious...
Others on here should be able to help you out with this one I'm not an expert. Wish you best of luck with him though he is gorgeous! I'll be watching this thread so I can hear how he goes.

that looks systemic rather than a leg injury to me. It won't be a calcium deficiency on layers pellets, if anything calcium overload though I don't know if that would cause this. Can you get to a vet?
