Silkie or no silkie?

I think you mis-read.................get TWO, not a single silkie.

Would it be okay if i got a silkie (and another chick) now and keep it living in the house until it feathered out then put them in the coop in the middle of fall when its colder with the other chickens? or should i just wait till next spring to get them?

ADDED: "when its colder"

My silkies are born with my regular size chickens. I move them into a pen by themselves eventually and keep them separate by color...They are so docile that they are easily intimidated by bigger birds even those they grew up with in the brooder. In one year I've gone from none to about 55 silkies, ahem not counting 6 born last week... I adore them totally....If you're interested in more about them ....Google.....Do you know sometimes the gentle silkie rooster will mother then hens...It's true!

We have an auction up for silkie eggs and some shots of our birds are there! Hope I've answered some of your questions.....Nancy
