Silkie paralyzed, better again. *Sad update Pg.10*

Thank you, and she does, Puddles.

I know she doesn't look like a Puddles, but it stuck.

I had a young silkie act the same way years ago. None of the other flock showed any illness. She went down fast, green poop, and passed within a week. That was almost 7 years ago and to this day I can't figure out what it was. My only guess was she ate something that poisoned her...but what? Why didn't the others get sick. I'll never know.
So sorry. Only advice, give her charcoal to clear her out.

She is standing now, eating on her own and drinking. Getting better slowly, just hoping she stays that way. She did a normal poo this morning too!
Can botchulism come and clear so quickly? This is the same as last time.

Sorry Gerbil but I would cull her, if its going to be a reoccuring problem then its probably better she went to a better place.

Botulism can clear quickly, there may have not been much of whatever caused it in her system. Could be moldy feed, toxic plant etc.. It's sort of like food poisoning, it gets in the blood stream and makes you sick until it clears from your body, blood stream and digestive tract.
As far as it recurring...
It just depends on whether or not all of the material causing it has exited the body. If it is cleared out of her blood stream and digestive system it shouldn't recur unless she eats it again, but keep her under observation, just because she seems better doesn't mean she is done fighting it off and there may still be some in her system. Keep giving vitamins to help her immune system fight and to be on the safe side.
I don't see how it could be a recurring problem unless she keeps getting whatever toxic thing caused it in the first place.... (assuming it was botulism).
HD has the same symptoms but the metal causing it cannot pass through. You would have likely found that in the crop if it were that, unless something small you could miss like a staple.
With the green poop and paralysis-like symptoms, it probably was botulism, which is curable. A small amount of charcoal (powder/pill not bbq. lol) is a safe way to filter out the blood. Since poo is normal I doubt there is any more to digest left.

She's acting like a normal chicken with very little balance. She digs, walks around and stretches but she has to catch herself every so often.

Try giving her a little liquid B complex for 3 days. You can get it at walmart. Also give some bird vitamins in the water and high protein feed. The "theory" is vitamin deficiencies can cause more fluid on the brain with silkies' skull structure being open. She is probably depleted from recovering from her problem. B's increase energy and appetite as well as increasing blood/oxygen to the brain, in turn she will hopefully consume more, getting more vitamins and protein and flow to the brain will help her balance issues and reduce fluids if they have built up.

Good luck, I hope she pulls through! At least it isn't Mareks though, you've got to be happy for that. I'm crossing my fingers for you, hopefully she'll get better just as quick and stay better! I'd love to see more pictures of this beautiful girl if you have any, my brother and I love buff silkies.

She is doing better, I got her the vitamins, no major balance improvements yet. I took her outside for a while yesterday, she sunbathed and scratched a bit. She's making plenty of noise!

I don't think she likes being in her pen.
