I traced 6 air cells yesterday, when I did the 3rd one I saw something weird, half "uh-oh'd" then realized it was the embryo! So three of the eggs I did definitely had development, yay!!! Two I couldn't see anything, and it was like the yolk wasn't moving, and the 6th one was iffy. There might have been something there, maybe. This morning the incubator is at 99.5 based on the human thermometer, and had dried out the water I had added. I'll need to figure out the humidity part now, it gets a little blanket at night to keep the temp steady, I might need to adjust the slider door at night when our interior humidity drops.

I thought I might have heard a crow other than Fizz Bang this morning. But it was 2 times with no noise from The Fizz, and he's very talkative, so maybe it was him. When I got up and checked outside, everyone was out in their runs but only Fizz Bang was crowing.
Good morning! So today is day 3? (Day 1 is the day you set the eggs.)You should definitely start to see veins by day 6 or 7. On your next hatch you might avoid checking eggs until around day 4 or 5. The days between 1 and 4, eggs are vulnerable to getting "blood rings", too much handling can cause the embryo to die early. After day 4 or 5 the likelihood of death from broken vessels isn't very common. Sounds like the machine is running well and on track! I'd definitely start to add some humidity if the cells are starting to grow.

Go Fizz Bang! I love crowing roosters. 🐓

Today would be Day 4 then since I set them Friday morning. I'll wait to candle them until tomorrow to check for development. I'm so glad to have your support!

Here's a photo of Fizz Bang in all his glorious-ness 😁

I just got that picture of him printed on an 8x8 canvas, blew him up so he takes up as much of the canvas as possible, and hung it over my coffee pot. 😃

I took one egg out to show my husband the little chick developing but that was it for tonight. Then I'll candle all of them tomorrow.

I had enough time after work to let the monochromatic crew out tonight. They enjoyed doing free chicken things and Heavy got to get his strut on.

Fizz Bang is totally picture framing material! ❤ How are the eggies doing this morning? :)

Beautiful photos, your flock is gorgeous! :love They look like they are enjoying their time outside.

The eggies are doing good, since I've added a little water I have a hard time keeping the humidity stable, it is staying 55-56% even with the vent fully open or when it runs low on water it drops back to the 30s. I'm candling all the eggs tonight for development and re-weighing my 7 weight test subjects. I'm hoping for 100% having development (of course, lol) I just texted the guy I got the eggs from and his current batch in the incubator are 100% and they have around 11 days left, he was at 17 days left when we picked up our eggs.

Humidity can be difficult to control, you might skip every other day and fill the reservoir. BUT...it sounds like lock down will be easy since your machine likes to run high on Humidity! Glad the eggies are doing well, keep me posted on tonight's candling! :pop

Out of the 22, 8 aren't showing development. 1 has a thicker shell, so maybe I just couldn't see it, 1 or 2 others, maybe I missed something... but I'm not getting my hopes up. The other 14 were very obvious! Hatching 14 for the first go at this is ok with me, not sure how much was transport, me setting them too fresh, deciding to weigh them on Day 1, and so on. Next time will likely be better. No blood rings though so I think they just never started? I figured I'll give them another few days and check again. I marked the 8 with '?' so I will only candle them and not mess with the others, except I may have to peak at one... the development is so incredible!

I see life in that egg! :wee Congrats! Lots of things can effect the hatch rate, the eggs themselves, letting them rest before setting is very important, the temp before setting, of course your equipment, etc....With each hatch you will learn to do and what not to do. But you are still above 50% hatch rate so far. It truly is amazing to watch these eggs turn into tiny life, you will never forget hearing them peep in the egg, watching your first chick hatch, it's an awesome experience. They bond with the first thing they see hovering over them, you are their mommy! Keep cheering on the little eggies! :woot
