silkie sexing

They are in the month 1/2, to two month range. Next time I get babies I'm getting a calender to keep track haha

What should I look out for? Getting bigger? Purply-like color? Thanks for helping me by the way!

Definitely look for getting bigger and the wattles will get bigger too. Also roosters will have thicker legs and will have long ankle feathers. Roosters will usually just be big in every way. Also crowing will tell you a lot! Some one had a Silkie roo crow at one month!

I need finding out what gender my two silkies are. These are 2 separate chickens by the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. They are 4 months old by the way.

What do you mean by long ankle feathers?

I believe they meant saddle and hackle feathers....see the below pic:

see the gold/green feathers around the neck, (hackle) going down the back,
and the gold ones around the tail...(saddle)
Only roos have these, even though some hens will have similar looking, only the roo sports them in such grandeur!

**note, I re-read, the poster may have actually meant the feathering of the legs....I had a silkie, they are tough to sex...good luck!

My little silkie hen...sadly a coyote ran off with her....she laid such tiny little eggs...a real sweetie.....

Yes I know what saddle and hackle feathers are, was wondering if there was some weird foot feathering thing I didn't know about.
