silkie sexing

@shortgrass
Well I'll keep an eye on them and try again to get some pictures of the white one in question(he/she is not very cooperative) perhaps in front of something dark. As for the other white one in the picture it does look like a pullet kind of from that angle oddly. Lol In fact I had to look through several pictures in a row to see who was who lol
So I guess it's all a wait and see type thing at this point.

If I may ask, where did you get your red Silkies? Theyre lovely! I'd love to hunt that breeder down and pester them for some hatching eggs!

Hello sorry for the delay, I thought I had replied ages ago, obviously not. I'm glad you like them, they were both girls :) I got two reds from a gentleman who imported them as babies from Holland, I have a mahogany red bearded boy with them, love the Reds and am hoping to hatch some from them next spring.

Help sex my 4 week olds please

4 week-old is too soon to sex. I had 2 white silkies that sprouted spikes like that, and everyone I know thought they were boys. Turned out to be pullets

Now I have 2 black silkies that are sprouting....they are 5 weeks...I am waiting until at least they are 4 months. Silkies are difficult.

These two silkies are 23 weeks old. The partridge seems to have streamers and small comb, but hasn't crowed. It looks like a girl aside from the streamers. The white Silkie is so confusing. It has a rooish tail and swept back crest, but a completely flat comb and no evidence of Spurs coming in. Neither have crowed or laid an egg. Both sing the egg song occasionally. Has anyone ever had a hen with streamers? These are hatchery silkies btw.

Well I wouldn't put a terrible amount of stock in tail carriage. Only one of my silkies(out of 6) carries their tail lower and everyone said it was a roo based on comb and wattles development. But now the two I know are roos seem interested in him/her and I think she's squatting. So maybe just the fastest developing silkie pullet ever? Lol even the ones I'm sure are pullets carry their tails up. And I still have one out of three whites that idk if its name is Jilligan or Gilligan lol not sure that Jilligan will stick lol but we'll see
