Is that picture in color or B\\W ?

Yes, the photo is in black and white.
Here is one of her in color, enjoying her retirement at age ten.

Oh goodness! These grays have me confused! LOL So this pretty girl is a good example of a gray girl? I thought I had seen where they should be a solid uniform color? Well, I got a nice looking gray girl myself then too! Her name is Ethel and won't give up being broody! Thanks for showing her!!! It is so hard to tell a good color for me without seeing it! LOL I will try to get a pic of Ethel to post on my phone because I can't find where I had packed my camera cord to download my pictures. I hope her color shows well on the phone pic.

sager:)silkies :

Yep it looks like she squshed it there's something coming out of his stomich or something

I am sorry about your chick but he probably did not absorb the yolk fully. You could be seeing that on its stomach or maybe the abdomen did not close fully. It is best to wait as long as possible before helping a chick out. I do help mine but only if it has been longer than a day they pipped and they are peeping less. I must say the ones I had help, alot had problems. Some died anyhow and other had spraddle leg but again alot progressed well and are normal chickens.

Grey is a very confusing color, but they are no supposed to be uniform in color.

Donna's girl is what a grey is supposed to look like. Donna McCormick is the leading breeder of the Greys.

Does she have barring on her wings? I have a pullet who i've been told is gray, she came from a b/b/s. She has barring on her wings. I'd like to enter her in a show, but was wondering about the barring.

You got a Grey from BBS? Really Weird! Was there a split lav in the group? Have heard they could pull a grey out?

I don't know, these were the first chicks I hatched out from parents that came from other breeders eggs. Not sure if there is a split lav in the group.

Here's some pictures of her.

Thanks! I am so glad she posted her girl! I have kept my Ethel because she has awesome foot feathering and type but thought her color was wrong for a gray. Are the males similar in color?
