Silkie thread!

Greetings...It's funny how I decided to wish farewell to my rooster and just concentrate on my hens and chicks for the time being...but after seeing so many pictures of cute chicks, I'm second guessing myself...If only I had a big ranch.
Here are my other chicks, that originally were very photogenic then became shy and now once again are starting to come around. If only they were all girls...they are 3months today.

And my two baby pheasants...I'm adding their picture here because they are being raised by the best silkie hen. She incubated the eggs and has been taking care of them from day one.
I love this age. That last grey is really gorgeous!!

The chicks in your first photo look blue. In the three week photo the chick looks possibly splash. What color are the wing feathers. If it is splash many of them should be white.
I'll have to go and catch them all tomorrow and get a good look at their wings. It looks like there are some dark feathered wings coming in so those would be blue, correct?

And then there are some that look like this. This is a terrible and a very dark picture, I just cropped it from a larger one, but you sort of see the wings. Does it look splash?

And then there's this picture.

It looks possible but they change so much. I had this one that I could decide about and about a week after this picture it's white wing feathers turned blue. The whole chick turned blue.

It looks like your chick almost has a yellow hue to it's head? Or is it maybe the lighting in the picture? I have one chick that's grey and has some yellowish feathering here and there. lol
I'll just have to be patient and wait for these little guys to grow! Very difficult to do because when you're excited and want answers now. lol

Oh, did the white in the wings go away as your chick got older?

Are these two separate birds?  Hopefully I'm wrong-- but they both look like cockerels to me.  The bottom one definitely looks like streamers coming in and has kind of a large comb for it's age.  The top one has the "brushed back" crest look that boys have.

Yes, I'm afraid they're both boys...

Thanks...
Oddly enough im not too sadden.... Sort of figured already... Shows im learning :D guess thats the bright side....

The chick is 4 weeks old now and yes it did have a yellow cast. It now has just a touch of white left on the tips of a couple of wings. Most of its body is now black.

I find the silkied feathers a bit harder to "read" than non-silkied feathers but they still are loads of fun!!
