Silkie thread!

Hello :) I decided to find a silkie thread and there you are! Need some help on a color question. I have silkies and showgirls and I've got something popping out of my flock that is (i'm guessing) either porcelin or lavendar...not sure which but definately not white! Here's some pictures!
funky color is on the right and white is on the left

My broody blue hen doing what she does best lol

My splash roo "Boy George"

body shot of one of the silkies with the unknown color...

And a head shot of the same bird...I just love his top knot!
''

Any help on the mystery color would be really appreciated! Love all the pictures on this thread! Oh...one more picture...this is one of my pullet showgirls from this years hatches :) Been working on nice high vaulted skulls and the feathering on thier feet. Her name is Q-tip :)
!
I think what you have is a silver gene white. You can do a search on BYC for silver gene white silkie to see some photos and get more info. Your flock is just beautiful! Glad you joined our thread!!

!!! I went into lockdown yesterday at 6pm with the 5 eggs that were shipped--all but one have odd shaped aircells. As of before lockdown, all were very much alive. WELL, three hours in and I had a power outage for a little over two hours. I immediately covered both bators with blankets, so my temp only got down to about 94 degrees. Humidity stayed at around 70--or at least these were the readings when power came back on and I uncovered them. It has been tough getting the tem back to stable, so it has ranged from 98-102...but the majority has been around 99, as I've stayed on top of it. I have one pipped early this morning, and maybe one more from last night--the windows are fogged a bit, so I can't tell for sure--I haven't dared to open. This morning I heard a few peeps, but the bator is soooo loud that I can't hear much other than the buzz. I'm so impatient thinking that they may not make it....I'm dying to candle them quickly to see!! Especially, since losing the last 13.....my heart can't take it again! I could do it quickly and spray a bit of warm water in....Oh, please help me to do the right thing...

Don't worry a bit about that short power outage! I feel for you! If you check on them and spray very warm water you will probably be fine but the spray will cause worse fogging and you won't be able to see them hatch. I would definitely want to see them 24 - 30 hours after pipping to see if they need any help. My wonderful DH built me an incubator with little doors in it so I can reach in and get an egg without disturbing the humidity. He got tired of seeing me like this.

Very stinky!!
Oh wow, I need to see pictures of your incubator. What a sweet hubby you have!! I will have to try to get my son to come up with something like that---he can make anything!
We are expecting more storms today. I'm thankful that I am on a list to be "first served" in an outage, due to medical necessities. But, it can still take a while sometimes. Oh, how I want Silkies.....
I did hear a little peep a bit ago--I think--so, God will just have to calm my nerves for now.

That's another wonderful thing my DH did for me, battery back up. We are expecting thunderstorms for the next 3 days so I'm prepared! Here's a link to my great incubator! :)

so like to introduce my 1st hatch :) the fluffy butt gang (eggs from Angie @ flowsrus)

the little showgirls both bearded and bow tied... thinking black maybe dark blue (you silkie experts and guesses?)

my early bird.. only one with no foot feathering but besides that i may just keep if its a girl cause every time i walk into the room she runs to the edge of the brooder jumping for me to pick up... the only one who cares for me lol ... lavender or light blue?

these two I'm thinking possible buffs they have a reddish tint I've never seen them so tiny before so not sure which colors are which so I'm guessing... don't mind to be corrected

white or Isabel/ porcelain.... I'm thinking white...

the partridge...it has a slight stripe down its back ... and has real nice vaulted skull

they don't got names yet... pretty sure only gonna keep 1 or 2, it was more for the experience, but i will say even though it was very nerve wrecking i loved it... my girls got to see most of them hatch it was truly an experience i like to have again :] and soon lol ( not only do i need a silkie obsession support group I'll be needing one for incubating)

Okay, I promised PeepBlessed a show report!

We took several of our silkies and we did end up with one of ours doing really well. We had other VERY nice silkies there too, so it was tough competition.

setting up at the show--
LL

she is looking kind of droopy here because of the heat, so her wings and tail are hanging down. The judging was done early in the morning before it got hot and she was a lot happier and perky then. I didn't think to take a picture until it was afternoon. Sigh.
