Silkie thread!

My Catdance eggs started hatching on day 19 and today is day 21 and they are still coming! Nine out, one still in the bator with two pipped eggs. Three still unpipped. They are so wonderful. I've waited a long time and it was so worth it. My babies are just a day or less old in these pictures. I kept the eggs seperated at lock down so I could mark them with food coloring. Some of the babies kind of got it all over their faces. Silly goofs. Here they are! I am in love love love. :love The Partridge are gorgeous and look different from one another. The littlest chick was the first to pip on the 19th but took over 28 hours to hatch. One foot has curled toes so I taped it right away with a Hello Kitty bandaid. It works very well for me and the chick. The little doot got it's face all in the food coloring. The difference in coloring on the two Blue Splash had me perplexed. The two Porcelains are out of two different pens. The Lavender is stunning in color. Love it! The Partridge is beautiful too. The Paint has the lightest skin and comb. Very white down. I can't wait to see what it developes like.
Beautiful Babies :) Congratulations!!

So toulouse is on vacation at angelobutter's house

It was quite funny watching the 3 roos together, working out their issues. Toulouse and the little showgirl roo were sparing, and the little showgirl was leaping straight over toulouse when he would charge

It was like he was half bunny! Toulouse and the frizzle were going at it a little but not as bad because he is bigger than toulouse. They calmed down after a few minutes so hoping they all learn to get along.

They look great! I was wondering about the curled toes. I have a por who is walking a few steps and then laying down and then walking a few steps and then laying down. I was wondering if it has a foot problem. I picked it up and looked at its feet and they look fine from what I can tell. What can I do to help it.? It's chirping happily and eating but seems a little um slow? Also, I had a chick pip and didn't zip for 48 hours! So I helped it out. It's doing great now. I thought it wasn't going to make it because after I helped it out of the shell it laid down in the bator for hours and didn't move around.
Thank you. I am loving on them.

Curled toes in late to hatch chicks are obvious when you see them. The chick walks on the sides of the feet. If they are taped in the first day they straighten out. If chicks hatch out from under a broody with curled toes, it's likely hereditary.

Sometimes chicks get splay legs. Harder to fix. Sometimes they just take longer to catch up to the others. If it can get around and eat and drink, that is a good sign for sure.

Need help with Silkie medical issue. My friend's splash silkie is having trouble with her legs today. She's from the same clutch my silkie is from so she's 3 months old. Donna, my friend, says the silkie is displaying weak legs. Can walk but has to flutter her wings to do so. Eating. Bright eyed. Any ideas about what might be going on? Thank you in advance.
I had almost the same issue with a 6 week old a month ago.. Except it was limping.. Thought it was mareks because it got better in 3 days then suddenly died.. I had two 8 wk old chicks get minor eye infections last week and one also had wry neck. Brought them in and started giving electrolytes.. Both were eating/drinking fine.. But the one with wry neck was getting worse, sommersaulting over its hanging upside down head.. Then their eyes started swelling and staying closed.. Bought a jug of vitamins, which I will be adding to all the chicks water from now on.. The wry neck is 95% gone, and the chick is standing up straight and perky :) as for their eyes I started on deremycin-10 2 days ago and there is an improvement already.
Point I'm trying to make is to not stress and try the vitamins and see how it goes :)

Hi I live in west TN. My son is wanting to show silkies. Is there anyone around this area on here that raises and sells them for show?

Hi all,

A few weeks ago, someone posted pictures of an adorable white pullet. I believe she said she was the only one she had so far and that she was looking for a white boy.
I have a gorgeous white cockerel that is getting too noisy for my yard in the 'burbs [he's not allowed]. I'd love to get him to her or anyone else that might appreciate him.

He has nice bloodlines [including Ami Crego, AH Robbins, etc,] and is a total darling sweetheart. I really need to find a home for him.

We're in PA but would ship if I had to.

Thanks! [First pix he's about to crow so he's standing taller than his normal stance]
