Great photo! you are doing the right thing by learning all you can.Hello all! I am new to the Silkie breed and am already in love with these funny little creatures. I have 5 babies now, hatched on April 9th that came from a breeder. I started with 4, one died shortly after coming home with what we suspect was just "failure to thrive",..The breeder was kind enough to replace him/her for me, and I wound up leaving with 2 more..thats chicken math for ya.
Anyhow, I will be trying to read through the thousands of posts on here to learn everything I can about these babies. I have raised chicks before, but nothing as teeny as these. We love all of our chickens, but the silkies are a little extra special
I have to take some good pictures later, but here is a camera phone pic.

So sorry you lost him but glad you had something to cheer you up. So cute!!Good news and bad news....
bad news, my wry neck chick suddenly took a turn for the worse and today I found him dead, after apparently having one of his flopping spells and landing with his head in the water and drowning himself.![]()
good news, one of my silkies hatched 6 babies (mostly LF mixes, olive eggers, cochin crosses, wyandotte crosses) today and yesterday! She is a first time mom, and is doing very good with them.I have another broody silkie on 4 turkey eggs due next week, pics are sure to show up on here of them too when they hatch.![]()
