Silkie thread!

Hello- hoping you pros out there can give me an idea what this is. It's a dry, crusty spot. I never saw it raw, or anything to scab over. Have never seen any bullying, and this is one of the bigger chicks. I've noticed a little spot on one of my others in the exact same space... Thanks- Pam

Also, it's not poop.
I think this is a broken blood feather- that is a feather that is starting to grow- the blood is still in the shaft until it fully emerges, if it is broken or cut at this stage it will bleed. I would clean it gently. I think the Vetrx is a good choice. Try not to get the bleeding started again. You can stop bleeding easily with corn starch or flour. It probably happened when trying out it's wings and crashed into something, wire or boards. I have had this happen with parrots.

I just heard a shriek- went to check- someone pecked at the scab, and took a piece off. Gonna have to separated him/her. UGH

There is no way to get a paint silkie without a paint parent, unless you're Judy, and starting a new color ;) blue, black, and splash pens tend to make blue, black, or splash babies. Is it possible she had some partridge chicks in there too?

I guess it's possible. I never actually saw the parents. I just thought this little chick was so cute. I couldn't pass it up! Thanks for the input!

If my Silkie (2 mos old) has 1/2" long wattles (but hardly any comb), does that mean it's for sure a rooster? Or is it possible it could be a hen? Thanks!
