Silkie thread!

Starting Fri I began giving Lady Mary (my splash silkie) the vitamins and electrolytes. I trimmed under her eyes a bit and she was dusted (as well as the other 3 chickens and coop/run!- better safe than sorry!)
She has perked up quite a bit and now instead of just laying about she wants to explore (in a whole seperate area of the yard the other chickens never go to)

The only problem now is I checked her and I still see mites! Is that normal? Did I do something wrong? She is quite fluffy, so does it take a few applications (and how often should that be??) to be cleared up or should I combine the Sevin dust with something else for maximum results?

Thank you! Poor girl...starting to feel better, but still in quarentine :( Feel so bad, but I know it's for everyone's good!
Give her a bath in flea/tick shampoo, Leave it on for the amount of time in the directions (usually 10 minutes). Then rinse thoroughly and sausage roll her in a towel, then let her drip dry in a warm location, or use a heat lamp or hair dryer. That should kill all lice or mites on her body, and if you got one with an insect growth regulator, it will kill their eggs, and/or prevent them from maturing. I usually also apply ivermectin pour-on after a bath.

This is not how the ocular form of Mareks presents. Mareks causes a grey iris and irregular shape to the pupil. It does not cause blindness, swelling or oozing. http://extension.usu.edu/files/publications/publication/AG_Poultry_2013-01pr.pdf and http://www.avianweb.com/mareksdisease.html show photos of an eye with occular Mareks.
Is this the case for every bird? The "normal" picture doesn't look like any normal bird eye i've ever seen

in the avianweb.com link. It looks like the bird was drunk

If I post eye pictures of my birds can you tell me if they are normal?

Guess what started hatching today!!!!!!!! One of three from my white trio!!! I had four but one recently died in the egg and the other two have already internally pipped.

Update on Mumsy, very sad day. The vet put her down today try as I might I couldn't get her leg straight enough to use and the vet did X-rays and also tried many attempts with different methods we just couldn't fix her. I will miss that little fluff ball.

Umm.. what is that egg doing out of the incubator?

Once they have pipped humidity is EXTREMELY important to let them get out - taking them out for pictures isn't the best idea... we will wait until they have taken themselves out and dried off for any further pictures, thank you.
