Silkie thread!

Funniest thing happened today. I had the bantam coop open letting them get out and range a bit. The ducks and Bantam boys from the bachelor house were out too. Up the road a car alarm went off. All.. every single one out if that bantam coop went flying back to their coop as fast as could be. The others who are out alot more looked at them like what the heck are you doing. It was so funny to see al the d'Uccle and Silkie running like a bat out of hadies. If I could only get a alarm to go off if danger is near.

To funny! I would love to sound an alarm too. Although apparently my sneeze sounds just like the roosters warning of overhead threat because when I sneeze while in the run everyone runs for cover, lol.

Lol, a similar thing happened here on Xmas eve. We were sweeping the verandah down in readiness for our Xmas day BBQ, a swamp harrier flew past and the 12 week old coronations scampered up behind me. This might sound mean, but when I can't get the young ones back to their pen I make a noise similar to a hawk and they fall over each other to get back to the pen. I watched a kookaburra set them off. He was " laughing away in a tee above them and they flew into the wire , looking for the doorway. Mine seem to recognize the danger from above from a very early age. The rooster growls and momma makes a short sharp cluck noise and even the week old chicks dive for cover.

I went to take a photo of my silkie one time......my OE popped her head up! LOL

I captures the before and after picture.....but for some reason my camera did focus on my silkie!
Another good photo-bomb!

Is there a photo-bomb thread? If not, maybe one should be started; unfortunately, I don't have any contributions :)

I gave in. They wouldn't break, so I gave them a couple eggs each. I'm a push over.
Tee hee Kabhyper! Softie! lol
Good luck with the hatches; they are beautiful looking mums-to-be :)

My Bantam Black Cochin went broody again when her chicks were 9 weeks old. She 'dumped' them at 7-8 weeks, laid about 6 eggs and then went broody. Luckily I managed to break her; I was so close to giving in but I really don't have room for more and was worried that she had not built up enough condition from her first hatch. I know broodiness is going to be just around the next corner :)

my sister chickED created a photobomb contest...it was over but people still post ALOT....my sister pretty quick to responding to her friends posts.

I think that their ability to perform such great photo-bombs pretty much sums up their chickenality. They are such wonderful fun and so cheeky! Love them to bits!

Poor little munchkins are feeling it a bit today though 35 degrees (95F) and very humid. At the moment the routine is a dip in the pool for me and a hose-mist for the girls; repeat! :)
