Silkie thread!

I put an ad on Craigslist about wanting some chicks for my 2 broody white silkie hens on the same nest and a older man called earlier wanting to know if he could buy one of the broody hens cause he said he has bobwhite quails that are laying and he wants a hen to sit on them for him and I wasn't sure of a price and he said to give him a call if I decide to sell one and know a price. And I was thinking about downsizing my silkies anyway and those 2 broody hens aren't a year old yet so I was wandering what you guys thought a good price for one of the broodies would be?

What kind of quality is she? I sold what I considered to be a pet quality, but much better than hatchery quality, proven pullet broody for $20 earlier in the summer to a family friend. If it was someone I didn't know, I would probably ask for a more. It also depends on what the guy is willing to pay, and what you personally think is a fair price for your birds.

Hope he's a good home, does he have other chickens? So she's not alone.

Any thought on the sex of my silkie?

I asked him and he said''Well there your birds I'm not sure what there worth" and I'm not sure if he does have other chickens but he just said he has bobwhite quail laying eggs and he wants a hen to sit on them for him and she was bred and hatched in the pen by my white silkie and a buff silkie rooster. But I do have her brother I've been trying to sell for a while and I could ask him if he wants the rooster and her for about $10-$15?

I snapped it with my cell phone and with the little bit of delay there is, she had the chance to walk right into the frame. She's quite the chicken, even if she isn't a silkie -- very curious, vocal and nosy. Can't miss out on any potential treats.

lol .. good one! She looks like a cheeky little girl! :)

I got a new camera so I could get some photos of the coop silkies. A lot of them aren't show quality, since we had to take what we could get out of the remaining chicks at the breeders after a raccoon attack killed all but one of our first batch of silkies. But the kids decided that pet silkies right now are just fine and we can find show-quality next time. Not the best photos of them, since all but a couple ran from the camera and it was getting dark, but ...

Mystery, the one getting white streaks by his eyes and on his hackles and wingtips. Don't know why they look off-white here.

Doctor Puffles. He can be kind of a jerk if he thinks you're messing with his hens. That's Penguin or Tux in the background. I can't tell unless I pick one up and feel for Penguin's legband.

White Flame, my fluffy boy. He gets into crowing contests with Tails, the blue cochin rooster. They both think they're the alpha rooster, but it seems to work out.

Cottonball the timid, who needs a bath. She finally started laying this month, even though it's been below zero.

Lou, the not-so-fluffy, but very laid-back roo. If you hold him and scratch his neck, he'll fall asleep.

Pinta, the Tailess Wonder. She's a tiny thing, the smallest silkie I have, but that's all the better for sneaking in under the LFs to nab treats.

Professor Fluffles, the one survivor of the raccoon attack that killed our first batch of silkie chicks and coop mascot. She's also the biological mother of Ella's chicks. She went into a four week broody period and is now molting, so she doesn't look her best.

Jazz, the hardest chicken in the world to catch if he's not in the coop. But it's so funny watching him because he sticks his chest out when he does. He has iridescent green streaks in his hackles, wings and tail, but the flash is making them white here for whatever reason.
