Another "new to Silkies" question. I'm learning as I go, so please bear with me. So, they don't fly per se, and from what I am seeing, they don't roost. Does anyone have a "Silkie specific" coop design I could go by? So far I'm thinking 4' tall x 4' wide x 16' long. The eggs aren't even here till tomorrow or Friday, but I want some time to think then build. If anyone has some good tips and/or pics of their Silkie coops, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I wish I could help with specifics (I only have one coop for all of my birds) but I can say that like every coop, there's always some things you wish you did differently later. Silkies can't 'fly' as you say. Some do roost. But some don't. Mine might be able to, but I wouldn't know, because I don't provide them with a roost. They all snuggle up in a pile at night and 'nest' in the shavings. I don't know too many, if any, breeders who actually put a roost in their coop.
I can't help with measurements, but I do love that key chicken-rule of giving as much space as you possibly can...Silkies specifically aren't trouble-makers fueled by bordem, but I tried to give mine more space than they require. Good luck with your babies!
Thank you both! There is no way Silkies could mingle with my Marans, they tend to be mean to their own kind, I'd hate to think what they'd do to a wee one. The measurements I gave were for the coop only, the run would come seperately. I give more than enough space for my guys, plus add some more, just in case chicken math kicks in!
