Silkie thread!

Cute! Are they buffs? Or partridge?

I have no idea! I have fell in Love with silkies when I moved out of the city and moved an hour north and wanted to start raising chicks. I contemplated ordering online and decided against it because I wanted a mixed flock. So after 2 weeks of having black australorps I called tractor supply and they had "assorted bantams" and I ran over to see what they were. I looked very closely after tons of research and realized that they were silkies. (The employees there had not a clue on anything) so I picked out 6 of various shades. I really hope they are beauties and have wonderful coloring. They are white-ish yellow tan and a little silvery. But some more and some less. Anyone know?! They are only a few days old thanks !!!

I just wanted to share my new babies! First time silkie father

They are lovely. I don't see any partridge in there as they lack the classic ' chipmunk ' markings. Very sweet though. :)

I bought it last summer it's the little giant I'm wondering what is the better little shelf incubator
Try the Hova Bator Genius 1588. I just bought one, haven't used it yet but has all good reviews. Don't buy anymore little giant or Farm innovators. I bought one of the farm innovators last year, it didn't work that good. Temp jumped and fell a lot. Went up to 111 and then down to 95. I hated it. Next to the Brinsea it's supposed to be a really good one. I got mine on Amazon

It can be used.  Add a fan.  Still air is just not evenly heated.

Get a couple or pharmacy type fever thermometers ($3.99).  Use a couple of bottles of water for stability without eggs.

Set it up and get it adjusted over a two day period.  Make small changes and wait at least 2 hrs between adjustments.
This can work but my farm innovators was a forced air and still didn't work all that well

Are you planning on selling the silkies you aren't keeping? If you are, I might be interested

Yeah I'll be selling the ones I decide not to keep. I also have some frizzles that will be going too. There's usually a Flock Swap at our local TSC on the 3rd Saturday of the month, starting in March... but I haven't seen anyone advertising it yet. Anyway, I had planned on just hauling them up there, but if you are interested, I'd be happy to try and work something out! ^_^
