Playing catch up but had to post and say I'm SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! CONGRATULATIONS!! (yes I'm yelling haha)

I was waiting to hear results from you showing. Love your partridges (the ones you won with were the Amber Waves ones right?) and I have a good feeling once your buffs are older they are really gonna be even more amazing

That's too funny! I've had two Silkie dreams in the past month. I also must mention that I'm 9 months pregnant, and we all know how weird pregnancy dreams can be. Anyway, in both of my pregnancy/Silkie dreams, I was giving birth to Silkie chicks! So strange! I told my husband and he got a pretty good laugh about it...actually, he's laughing right now at me telling others.

I totally remember the crazy pregnancy dreams! Hilarious!! I dreamed I had puppies when I was like 6 months along, omgosh it was a riot! Like in the dream it was all sci-fi and somehow a weird mistake happened at the hospital and oops I accidentally had the puppies and someone else had my baby so we just switched back so I could have my baby and the lady could have her puppies HAHA!!!

You should know the gender for sure when they lay eggs or crow! Lol I think your snow white may be a boy. The way his wings are and his type make me think it's not a girl. Who knows for sure though.

The strangest dream I had while pregnant was that my son was born,,,,,and he was a french fry!

I lost three to the heat this last week but we are up around 107-108 degrees every day.

More ice and ice water, more misting been hooking up fans and encouraging them to stand more frequently in the pans of water I have out for them. I'm stepping it up even more until the heat breaks. Sad couple of days since two of the three were my favorites of course. Splash cockerels that were half brothers and a young white pullet. I thought the shade and abundant cool water was enough along with misting once a day but they couldn't handle it I guess. I reminded how new I am to all of this all too frequently. Still plugging along thinking of moving them into the garage since it's cooler in there. Wonder how the hubs will take that? LOL

Not to say all places that get hot are as hard to keep silkies but I do live in the desert. So yeah, just keep it in mind that they are a little more fragile IMHO and you really need to be vigilant in 100+ weather.

What color is the one on the left? I'm thinking red. The one on the right is cuckoo

It may not matter because they've been exposed to cocci. I lost 2 today and just figured out what it was. They started pooping blood. The first one I dispatched the other one I found dead just after 1 bloody poop. I thought yesterday the first one wasn't feeling well and this morning it was pooping blood so I took care of it right away, moved them to a cage inside the shed where there are no birds and disinfected the entire pen, food and water dishes all with bleach. I didn't want to put them back in the pen just to have to disinfect it again.

I bought 4 White Silkies about 6 weeks ago then found this thread, Haven't gone trough all the pages but it sparked my interest so yesterday I bought 4 more. A Buff, a Blue, a Black and a Partridge to go with the 4 Whites I already had. Will see how they all look when they all grow up and see what I get when I start mixing them up.

Looks like buff and gray not red or cuckoo. Use sulmet for about 3 days ONLY and then start feeding some yogurt worked wonders on my little ones with cocci. Also now while they are drinking you can use apple cidar vinagar works well too.
