We thought it was a girl. Nope. My daughter suggested we name him "Roo Paul".

Wow, at how many weeks/months do they get to the pure white stage?... Or whatever color they're going to be...
Edit to add: please post an updated pic. Would love to see them.

I wonder if this will help? A paint can be born solid white or whitish or with a dark few splotches. Most of them get more black splotches as they grow. Here is the paint I hatched this summer as she colors up. She was born whitish/off white but no clear splotches. By 4 weeks you could see a few black splotches as she began growing out of fluff and into real feathers but as time went by there were considerably more paint markings visible.

Wow she is beautiful! And yes that helps! Thank you. So another random question... I thought silkies were supposed to have black skin... But I noticed on my day old hatchlings that some have normal flesh colored spots on their skin. Will it stay like that or will it darken over time?

This is great! Do you breed paints?

@Fancychooklady or anyone else that might have an idea. My baby girl is due to hatch her eggs this week, actually on thanksgiving. My delima and question. She is in a nice sized coop all by herself sitting on her eggs. My question is should I leave her in the coop to raise her babies or put her in a brooder box I have in the garage with a heat lamp for a while. It has been getting quite cold here overnight, sometimes in the 20's (F). It wasn't my idea to hatch eggs this late in the year but Sadie had other ideas. Or should I put a heat lamp in the coop with her, (this kinda scares me because of the fire risk) or will she be able to keep them warm enough on her own.

I'm thinking moving her to the brooder box is my best option, but should I move her now or wait for the babies to hatch?

anyone else ever had this issue? What worked for you?

Momma hen should keep them warm, if you move them wait until after they hatch though. Be extra watchful of her though. I just saw a thread where a broody got up to do her eating and drinking and baby was trying to zip and had to be brought inside to be warmed up.
