Silkie thread!

I just got in to silkies this spring I have had laying hens but never silkies. Today when I went out to feed, all my chicks ran up to me like a bunch of puppies. It's so nice how friendly they are becoming! Way different then my other chickens. I'm curious do silkies ever like being held. And do silkie roosters become agressive or does it just depend on the bird. Every rooster I have owned with my other chickens were not very nice.

I have a similar question I have some breeder quailty silkies and I have found that they are very jumpy and skid dish will they grow out of it I try to handle them when I can but its hard to catch them they are the fastest little runners compared to the others it's funny how fast there little fuzzy legs go. Or should I just be handling them more to get them used to being held and pet the person I got them from bought them at sale and was trying to sell them as meat birds but I bought them before that could happen someon else bought the other 6 but the way they talk per it was someone wanting to keep them as pets and maybe breed them.

I have this incubator it has an automatic turner keeps steady temps, and holds humidity and I have hatched 3 times with it I keep it clean and I have good hatch rates with it works perfect for what I do. Here are some pics i forget what it's called.

EDIT : I seen then it's the Janoel 12 incubator but if you don't use the turner you can fit about 2 dozen in it. O I almost forgot to mention it has fan so it's circulated air incubator.

That's the one I have but it's the knock off. The generic version. Maybe that's why mine won't work? It was working ok in the beginning but then it started overheating. I need to use it for some duck eggs but even now it's overheating. :(

It really depends on the bird. I have found that the nicer the parents are, the nicer the offspring is in terms of temperament. For this reason, I only keep nice roosters in my breeding pens. By what you said, they seem pretty nice so far. Of course treats always help to make them comfortable with you.

When my silkies are young I make sure to give them cracked corn every time they come up towards me. This helps them to become more comfortable around people. That's always worked for me, so it'll probably help with your silkies being so skiddish. Before you know it, they'll be following you everywhere to get treats.

Right now I have it set to 37.2 c and it's showing that it's 38.3 c. I'm freaking out cause I need to use it... :(

Incubator thermometers are rarely accurate. I recommend using a separate thermometer in the incubator to get a more accurate temperature. The Brinsea spot checks are really nice incubator thermometers. I use them with my hatches.

Ya when I get my mixed flock a treat they come flying so fast out of the woods when they see me cup my hands and make that noise I do to get them to come they come flying. Sometimes I just do it to get them out of the woods because someone taking a walk or someone visiting wants to see them but they are way up in the woods. It's to funny I will trying it thanks.
