Just give them time they will be more accepting of you in another 6-8 weeks or so and then more and more as time goes on. I call the super young stage very they are scared the "OH NO GODZILLA!" stage lol
So what did you find out? Or can you post a link to it? I was sitting here hoping someone would answer because I'd like to know too! I'm trying to find out if it's harder to breed a vaulted skull into them, or fix toes and/or toenails.
Vaulted skull? Why? I'm with the group of people that would say that a vaulted skull doesn't necessarily mean the bird will have a nice crest. I have a lot that aren't vaulted and have great crests. You'll be looking more at the crest size versus worrying if they are vaulted or not. JMHO

I found out a missing toe-nail is a small point deduction at a show and missing toes are DQ. I just did a search here on BYC on "missing toe-nail silkie". I too would like to know the answer to your other questions!
Missing toenails or double toenails I've heard sometimes don't even get noticed but are not a DQ that's correct
If I had to chose between a bird missing a toenail and one with horrible type guess what I'd chose? lol To me a missing/double toenail makes them BQ but I'm picky... not to say I have a whole lot to pick from lately but if I did LOL

That describes it perfectly!!! So glad it's not just me.
