My fluffiest chick of the hatch has curled up toes. The other 13 are perfect!

bandaid boot time!

Yes, I did that for three days and took it off to check (I was afraid the feet wouldn't be able to grow) I didn't see any improvement so back on with the booties

Ok, i purchased this bird as a black but is it? It has all around dark until you look at the primary wing feathers and they look like they may have a little blue hue to them when the light hits them just right. He has no silver leakage and has a little beetle green in his feathers when the light hits him. Also if you look at his feathers by his skin it looks a little silverish. So all you silkie experts, is he blue or black in your opinion here is a picture. He is not a year old yet.

He looks alot like my dark blue rooster, he looks like he has light colored feathers around his feet! But very nice looking either ways

I have a 8 week old silkie that has started to chirp all the time, and hide its head under another chick. It didn't do that before and in fact, always stood up erect & tall.

I don't know what is going on.....any ideas?

If I didn't have this same thing happen here this Summer I wouldn't even think about it. I had a d'Uccle chick start the same thing. I had decided not to do a lot but I did hang a light for warmth. Turns out the chick was cold and for whatever reason needed that little bit of help. The chick was part of a group hatched at the same time and were a couple of weeks old. Its now getting in to all kinds of trouble just like its sibs.

This chick is at least 2 months old,my oldest Silkie, & fully feathered, inside the barn. Although it has gotten cooler here lately, I can't imagine its cold....but I suppose its possible. I did take another chick out of that pen, so maybe that one less body makes a difference? Although its pen is wire on all sides & top theres no place to huddle.

Do Silkies take longer than other birds to be able to maintain their own body heat? Its been unusually hot for weeks here, until the last week.
My other younger silkie chicks are fine.

Thank you so much Colie!!!! Yea it's turning out that the people we got the eggs from seem to be amateurs. Nothing wrong with that, just finding out that alot of their information isn't correct. Happy to hear that. Had 2 more this morning!!!! Only checked one and that one has 4 toes as well. Can't have any roosters, so hoping there is at least 2 girls in the mix. But there's also 4 more eggs under her.
