I am not sure. She came out of a partridge pen.

yeah I was talking to marty and he said that partridges will sometimes be bred to buffs or self blue to enhance or darken certain colors, and that the color can present itself farther down the line, i'm guessing if that bird's line is bred to another bird's line with the same breeding matchup. Mine was from a partridge pen as well.

It should be interesting to see how they grow out. Are you planning on putting yours with a partridge or a porcelain?

Most likely a self blue, I want to get some of the blues back in to make the porcelain color.

Someone near by had 5 Black and Blue Silkies to rehome.
They are 5 and 6 months old. Discovered: 3 hens and
2 Roosters.

Interesting color combo. Black head blue body, on a couple of
the hens. They have nicely covered feet and are overall pretty.

I think that is normal for blues, but mostly on the males. Mine has it, I am hoping she is a pullet though. She looks like a pullet.

Thought I would share some pics of my flock the first ones are my catdance babies all 10 weeks old just put them out in their coop last week. They are all from the porcelian and lav project pens. I just love them and I had to share my splash rooster I raised from a chick he is turning into such a cutie!

This is my silkie roo Fred. There are 4 chicks under him keeping warm. I go out every night and pick them all up and put them in the coop. And every night there are 3-4 chicks under him keep warm. I call him Momma Fred!

Ha, I have a black roo that does the same thing. I put him in with the babies. He teaches them to eat and drink and how to behave. He sits on the babies at night. The last batch is starting to challenge him now that they aren't babies, so I'm thinking of pulling him out and putting him in with the other Silkies. Eventually he will have to go there anyway...my best black roo died recently (I'm still really bummed about his loss...he was more like a dog than a chicken!). It won't be for a while, as I quarantined my Silkie coop since the one roo got sick, and I'm not putting this beauty in until I'm sure it will be OK. He will probably hate it...he loves his babies, and I let him free range with them. I love my Silkie roos. Such nice guys.

I have two blue hens, one lighter than the other. The first one definite pet quality. I might try breeding the older of the two (2nd picture) to my splash cockerel depending on what he looks like when he matures just to try my luck with breeding.

Here you can see how they have the dark heads. Is this what yours look like? Normal to blue.

Blue:
Head: Glossy Black
Neck: Hackle- an even shade of clear bluish slate, distinctly laced with glossy black. Front of Neck -- same as breast
Back: Back and Saddle- an even shade of clear bluish state, each feather distinctly laced with glossy black.
Tail: an even shade of bluish slate, each feather distinctly laced with glossy black.
Wings: Bluish slate.
Breast: An even shade of clear bluish slate, each feather having a sharply defined lacing of black.
Body and Fluff: Clear bluish slate.
Legs: An even shade of clear bluish slate, each feather having a sharply defined lacing of black.
Undercolor of All Sections: Bluish Slate
