Cute! Love the one on the right.
Thanks, it seems when chicks get sleepy they lose all control of their neck, their little heads just bobble everywhere until they find somewhere to rest. This place happened to be the shoulder of its hatchmateCute! Love the one on the right.![]()

When it was still winter, my plan was to put my bantam cochins in a separate pen once it got warm enough...which would be now. But! Our dear blacksmith talked us into taking his chickens for the winter and they won't be going back home until May.They live in the pen I had open for my cochins. So much for that idea... I also had a second empty pen which I was planning on using for my splash cockerel and these hens, but being that the blue hen went broody and there was no stopping her, I just gave her 3 chicks.
In 2 weeks, I'll start collecting the cochin eggs and either put them in the bator or give them to one of the silkie hens. After I get enough fertile cochin eggs, I'll switch them with the silkies...unless the blacksmith's chickens have go home sooner! It's getting awfully complicated. Good thing we had these two empty spaces so I can play "musical chickens".![]()

I'm dying to start hatching here!!!![]()
I believe it's 28 grams for hens, 32 grams for roo's? So 1.5 lbs for hens and about 2 lbs for roo's.Are these normal weights for Silkies?
Roosters; 2 pounds 5 oz, 2 pounds 12 oz
hen- 1 pound 14 oz, pullet 1 pound 13 oz
?
I had one die a couple of weeks ago and I"m trying to figure out what is going on. I'm finding varying info on weights in a google search. I didn't know what you all find is normal weight?
