Quote: I'd use boy #1; his type, comb and colour are better, and since he has five toes on one foot you know he has the polydactyly gene. Toes are much easier to correct than are comb or off colour in hackles/saddle.
Quote: Splash is two copies of blue, meaning a blue gene must be inherited from each parent. So, the possible parents for a splash baby are blue and splash. The percentages of splash offspring will depend on which two varieties are used (doesn't matter which parent is which). Black X splash will be 100% blue.
Blue with silver leakage.
I would need to see a photo from the top to eliminate blue.so, due to that, it must be the other rooster with the chick being this color? this isn't the color for a blue chick, right?
I'm so glad there are people here who know these things.I'd use boy #1; his type, comb and colour are better, and since he has five toes on one foot you know he has the polydactyly gene. Toes are much easier to correct than are comb or off colour in hackles/saddle.
Thank you! Wow that makes so much sense about the other foot having 5 toes. Never looked at it like that. I'm glad to get the definite response about what is easier to breed out too. That helps a whole lot with my decision making.I'd use boy #1; his type, comb and colour are better, and since he has five toes on one foot you know he has the polydactyly gene.
