Silkie thread!

Not sure where to post this question. I have four chicks that hatched Tuesday through early Wednesday morning. One of them, instead of drying and fluffing out like usual, she has an area on her back and head where the stickiness dried hard, almost like a shellac coating. I tried washing it off with warm water and putting it back in the incubator but it's still about the same. Anyone ever seen this before? Do I need to do anything about it, or as the chick fluff grows into feathers grow out will it eventually just go away? She seems fine otherwise. Running around with the other chicks and eating and drinking normally. Here are some pictures:

Next time give an "only" a stuffed animal to cuddle with.

We had a soft blankie for her but it was so hot she preferred to scoot up to her mirror reflection to sleep. She only used the blankie when we covered her at night in her nest. Every chickie is so different LOL

Ive seen some pics with chicks cuddled against stuffed animals is that nessicary? I have 25 chicks coming fron cackle the 26th would they need something tp cuddle against in the brooder or will they just cuddle with each other?

I usually have some hatch like that. Someone mentioned "sticky chick syndrome", which is caused by low (?) or high temp in the 'bator. Maybe it's part of the egg stuck on. I'm not much help am I?? I usually wash them off with a little warm waters, towel dry, and back under the heat lamp.

Someone else will be much more help! Cute chicks!

Thanks BuckNBark - I looked up 'sticky chick syndrome' and found a few threads, and it does sound like the dry type of sticky chick, so maybe the humidity was too low or dropped during hatching. I'll watch that for future hatches. I really need a separate hatching incubator.

Several threads seem to give instructions on how to soak the chick in warm water to get the dried sticky off, but it's only on her back and head. Eyes, nose, and butt look fine. The chick is out of the shell, walking around eating, drinking, and pecking with the rest of her hatch-mates, so is there any reason to torture the poor thing with water and such trying to get it off? Will it hurt the chick to just leave it and let it grown out? Or does it need to come off so that the chick's skin can get air and grow right or something? Here she is with the others from the same hatch.

W/ 25 chickies there'll be poop all over the cuddly toy in less than 5 mins LOL. Chicks will pile w/ each other for warmth. They wriggle around so much as chicks they never stay still even when napping. The cute little buggers! Just follow instructions for both the brooder temps & lighting & you'll be fine.

We covered our one & only chickie w/ a blankie when she wanted to go to sleep & stayed that way all night like she was under a momma hen because she had no other chicks to sleep w/. When the light was way dimmed, she would chirp to us from under the blankie when we softly spoke to her to make sure she was ok through the night - the way the momma hen would cluck to respond to chicks under her. Our chick never failed to low chirp if we asked her "are you ok under there?" She answered softly w/o moving "chirp chirp." So darn cute!

I hope you find your Silkie breeder. We picked out our Partridges when they were day-old but the breeder raised them for us til they were 5 months old. We got our Black from a breeder when she was only 2 months old. They were all sweet, no problems getting them older or younger. But we did make sure to get them all before POL & before 6 months old just because we wanted to keep a record of their egg-laying which is phenomenal IMO. Good sized egg for a bantam & lay as productive as some broody LF breeds.
