Silkie thread!

I'm hoping it's a roo ! If so it's my only one..the comb is much wider than others of same age (have to zoom in in this pic to see)& its starting act lil different . Also I can see some green/blue feathers wing area & tail if light hits it version way. So i just keep wondering!

OMG, NO NEVER SAY HOARDING. That's a BAD WORD ON BYC. NEVER SAY THAT, your NOT an hoarder, you just have an Uncontrollable disease, IT"S OK breath. LOL

You know there is another stage of the disease, it starts out as HD (hatching disease) then goes into CSH, which is (Can't Stop Hatching), then CHEC (Can't Have Enough Chickens).

So we have three stages of the disease, BUT THERE IS A FOURTH ONE: GROCTGM... (Getting Rid Of Chicks To Get More). LOL

It sounds like you are at the Last stage but the disease will cycle ALL OVER from the Beginning stage...it just keeps continuing on and on.

LOL Absolutely NO CURE except to continue the cycle. Poor Poor thing, I totally feel for you and Everyone else, I am On my Eight Year Cycle. LOL....
I've never hatched chicks yet, but I know I have CHEC. Lol I started with 4 and then I got 2 more and now I want at least 1 more chick and maybe a duckling. I have 18 pigeons too. I live in town so I'll probably have to move to a farm if I want more then 8 chickens.......

Something peculiar about this hatch. The 2x cockerels have naked faces.

that's REALLY weird.....have you hatched these eggs before?

I know my roo had had a bare face because it took a while for the facial feathers to come in....but yours look almost fully feathered which is really weird.
did they have face feathers when they hatched?

I have 2 x pullets and 2x roos left from this hatch , I might contact the guy I sold the others to and compare notes. Here's a pic when they were hatched.

The other thing is the one little red partridge didn't look bearded early on . These little buggers just keep you guessing.

wow! your red girl is a beauty! I want a coop full of silkies sometime! good luck to you....these birds may just surprise you once again!

here are my 2-6 day old silkies enjoying a little sunshine and foraging. I desperately wanted a couple white and buff but it looks like I got black and partridge. One of these days I will get my white and buff, haven't been able to find anyone close to me. These came clear from Georgia from a friend who was traveling that way and knew a person with silkies. I sooooo want a white and a buff though.

Greetings! Just wanting to throw a few pictures of our black pair up for critique! Don't pull any punches.

The black n white picture is the recent one, he lost his crest from what I assume is molt and they're starting to come back. The hen beside him gets routine crest clips or her entire face disappears... The third pic is the hen between crest clips.
