Well I have had my ' cuteness ' fix for the day. Thank you.
However can a crossed beak be fixed? Twist doesn't look crossed in the photos - lovely girl.Meet my porcelain Twist "aka" Little Marbles. She is my Marbles reborn. I absolutely adore her! The inside shots she was 2 months old, in the outside shots were two weeks later. She had a pretty bad cross beak that I fixed. But she will always have a crooked beak... Twist. I have had to trim her cheeks and crest several times. She has the fullest fluff! And she was really skinny and quiet. So trimming was a huge help to her. When she gets older I would like to learn how to properly tape up her crest so I can save it from having to be cut off.

What color are they now and what color will they be when they grow up?

Her beak is crooked on her face. When I got her, it was sizzored, top half pointed to the left, bottom half pointed to the right, and it wouldn't close completely. She was a throw in as packing material for the shipment. :/. I trimmed her beak a few times. Took off the spots that were restricting her from being able to close her mouth all the way. And after a while, it lined up perfectly. Thank god because I love her. She couldn't even grab ahold of a blade of grass before.
I have never cut off anything on any of my breeds - muffs/beards/crests/etc. My girls seem to be proud of their topknots. Makes them feel taller!
I have been trimming everyone's beards because they are sticking in there eyes. I can only imagine how annoying that must be for them. I trimmed Little Marbles above and below her eyes because she was not eating and seemed too quiet. It made a big difference. Now when I pick her up, her crop isn't always empty. She was getting very skinny. I didn't know what else to do.
IMHO cutting their crests because we think they can't see is a myth. I've had my Silkies for 3 years and my fluffy girls see just fine. They are naturally skittish and aware of their diminutive size and being able to see does not alter this behavior. In their fluffiest new crests after a moult they see just fine - they'll tilt their heads if they want to see behind or above them and their crests have never interfered with giving a barnyard alert when a Cooper's Hawk sits on the fence - I have several shelters, doghouse, and plants scattered around the yard for the girls to dive under - once saw 4 hens at once dive into the doghouse when they sounded the hawk or stray cat alert! If you plan on keeping them outdoors don't fret about their vision - be more concerned about having more safety hiding/snoozing places for them to hang out during the day - they really love stickery plants like evergreens, roses, and berry bushes - predators don't like to go after hiding chickens in stickery bushes. Just MHO.
Your new chicks are sooo cute!!!

I love hearing the stories that save little animals. You were very quick thinking and so glad you figured a solution for her! Our two Silkies groom each other and saves my having to intervene![]()
