What kind of shampoo can I use on my silkies
There are probably chicken shampoos - I don't know. We use no tears baby shampoo in case the chicken splashes it won't sting eyes.

nice ok thank youThere are probably chicken shampoos - I don't know. We use no tears baby shampoo in case the chicken splashes it won't sting eyes.
When my Ameraucanas are juvies they will coo when I talk to them and while I hold them in a blanket or towel - they voluntarily settle down into our arms and lap and go to sleep cooing until totally asleep. Our Leghorns and Marans ate from our hand but barely tolerated being held - they aren't the cuddly sort. And some breeds just seem to vocalize more than others awake or sleeping.
Thats a frizzled silkie. They don't feather like that unless they carry the frizzle gene.
Sweet chicks, are the last two chocolate - that's what it seems on my monitor
This is my Winnie (so funny one of yours has that name too, one of my best friends last name is Winnie, she's named after her- I don't know why, but this chicken reminds me of her, I think it's my friends hairThank you! The feathers were so different from the others' that I suspected as much, but I have never seen photos of frizzled silkies, just those sizzles that I think are crossed with cochins, so I wasn't sure.
Here are some photos of my silkie babies, if anyone is interested. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for at least 2 pullets. Sorry for the phone photos, maybe one day I'll actually get a real camera out.
This is Beatrix, she was given to me as a free extra, she was a few weeks older than the others she was grouped with, but she's very sweet with them. She has a crooked (but not crossed) beak and I think a single comb instead of the proper silkie one, but she's a darling.
This is Winnie almost two weeks ago, she won't hold still to be photographed anymore.
Honeysuckle & Clementine
Wednesday & Tabitha (Tabitha is the one whose feathers are now coming in frizzled)

This is my Winnie (so funny one of yours has that name too, one of my best friends last name is Winnie, she's named after her- I don't know why, but this chicken reminds me of her, I think it's my friends hair), my frizzled Silkie. She did come from my Sizzle project, but she's got all the necessary Silkie traits, so to me, she's a Silkie
Your Winnie kind of looks like it has normal, smooth feathers. Is the breeder you got them from working on Sizzles?![]()
Compared to one of my "normal" Silkies:
It's kind of hard to see the frizzling on Silkie feathers, just sort of looks like they just rolled out of bed and need to brush their hairI have more chicks growing out in the brooder who look a little more dramatic, but I don't know if thats because the frizzling really stands out against their chick down, or if they just have more curl than Winnie.![]()
