His mouth is open, it looks like he can't breathe. We think it's open mouth disease. So idk what to do. Have it ever had this happen?

I've never heard of open mouth disease but when chickens are stressed they will show symptoms of upper respiratory problems. The chick needs to be kept warm and as diva said , eating and drinking are a good sign.

Hey, my eggs are hatching in my incubator and the hatchin chicks are crawling all over the hatching eggs. Is that ok? Also, one chick's butt looks bloated. Is that ok?

I have lost some as a result of the hatched chicks rolling the unhitched eggs at that crucial time when they have pipped internally but not zipped externally . Unfortunately they drowned.
Keep an eye on the swollen vent as this can be omphalitis / mushy chick disease. If they hatch with anything hanging or attached to the umbilical area it's important not to tug at it. Just leave it alone and it will shrivel up and drop off.

I did put "open mouth disease," in the search box and several things popped up. So I guess it does exist but, maybe is more commonly known by some other name.

I have 8 pullets right now. 2 BA, 2 EE, 2 White Marans, and 2 Salmon Faverolles. I want to get a rooster next spring and thinking about silkies because I heard they are a more docile, quieter rooster. Any truth to that?

I don't know about the quieter part. Mine is loud and him and the EE have crowing competition. It is kinda funny.

My silkie rooster is very sweet, and not that loud either. He does crow all day long though. He has never attacked me or bitten me, loves to cuddle, and isn't too rough with my hens either. I raised him from one day old, so I'm sure that is one of the reasons why he is so sweet. If you are looking for an adult rooster, try going to TSC or somewhere like that. A few weeks ago I was at Buchheit and there was a very sweet rooster there. If you can't find a silkie, try to get a sweet rooster that has been handled a lot.

For the last 3 days I cut cups out of an egg carton and put the eggs in to prevent rolling.  If you make circles it works too.  I did have one rolled and it did die. 

I use muffin cases now, a few layers of them . Helps to keep the incubator cleaner also.

This Silkie will be buff, right? The wing feathers have some darker brown in them, but I've never had a Silkie before, so I don't know if this is normal.
