Silkies are SO addicting! LOVE mine!

There are many things that can impact your hatch rate. Have you calibrated the incubator to be sure that the readings are accurate ?
This article has everything you need to know. I keep it bookmarked and find it good for ' trouble shooting '.
I think it would be wise for you to read through it before you set the next batch. :)

I have used many thermometers and it all seems accurate thank you I will read on this
Might be a silly question but These are shipped eggs how long should I leave them sit and if I should turn them a certain way?

@chickee Gorgeous birds! :love

@Michelle27 there is ongoing debate about how long to let shipped eggs sit. Everyone has a different opinion. I think rule of thumb is at least 24 hours. And don't turn them for the first 5 days, ish. Then turn 3x day till lockdown, day 18. :)
Wishing the very best of luck to you!!

Hi Adorkable,
Love the pictures! The pullet in the 4th picture looks a lot like the one in my avatar. They all are nice looking birds! That Roo is gorgeous! Wonder how he matured?
I just received 8 sizzle/silkie eggs in the mail from Missouri & slipped them under my broody porcelain hen. She is sitting tight so far! I am keeping my fingers crossed! Due to hatch Sept 11. I have a friend that will lend me her incubator but have never hatched eggs that way so am hoping I won't need to!

Oh... I might have to put sizzles on my list.. they're so cute lol. Good luck with the eggs

I'm needing help this will be my second time incubating silkie eggs an non have been a successful hatch I'll be getting more eggs Wednesday an I want to have a hatch my temp is at 99.5 an humidity is at 50% an lockdown is 65% am I doing somthing wrong? Im going off of the Internet are silkie eggs different for incubating? Any info would be greatly appreciated I'm really wanting this batch to be a good hatch!!

What incubator are you using? Did you calibrate the thermometer and hygrometer? I think your humidity is too high during days 1-18. Maybe try lower humidity. Around 30-35%.

Shipped eggs need extra special/gentle care. How were the air cells when you received them? I've done quite a few batches of shipped. You can PM if you want. Maybe I can give you some extra tips.

Oh ok , so shipped egg have a lower hatch rate . Look for air cells, the article I gave you explains how. The eggs should be stored pointy end down and I like to set eggs no older than 10 days from lay.you also need to let the eggs settle after travel. If the eggs are subject to excessive heat during transport , that will also impact your hatch rate. I don't ship eggs in the heat of summer.
