Silkie thread!

My guess is partridge with the one that looks like a chipmunk. Maybe buff or a mix for the other.. :)

Thank you. I know the one is a partridge but I don't know about the second one. The lady has a silver partridge rooster and a white hen and a silver partridge hen. Does that help you figure out the second one by knowing the father and mother?

How does everyone keep there silkies cool in the summer my other chickens are barely panting but the silkies are panting like crazy and have there wings spread out so far I don't know how they aren't dragging there wings. I have lightly misted there dust bath but they just bathed right before so they haven't used it yet. so any ideas on how to keep them cool. thanks o I have another question I was going to sell my splash silkie eggs for 20 dollars a dozen but I was wondering how high priced anyone else goesor what you think of 20 for a dozen plus the extra eggs incase they crack.

My Silkies have lots of shade and fresh water. I normally don't do anything else for them unless its brutally hot (like today). They got an entire frozen honeydew melon as a treat today and I sometimes also dump ice cubes in their waterers, which is a double win. I get to cool off the birds and clean out the ice maker (stale ice is ew).

As far as hatching eggs, I sell mine for $20-45 a dozen depending on how the birds are penned. Eggs from my "fun pen" (mixed colors) are $20, eggs from my B/B/S are $45. I haven't sold any since I've added Showgirls to the mix, but I plan on listing them for $45 as well. I always include extras just because I know I like to get them :)

This may be the time of year. We lost 7 hens and 1 rooster.
We set a trap and got a skunk. Was the skunk the killer?
Don't really know.

This was the ONE time we had a full flock All beautiful Silkies.
We are so sad. Wish we could get new Silkies soon. As I
mentioned before not too many Silkie lovers in NY State.
Sorry for your loss.....we know the feeling. Regards, Aria

My Blue/Cream boy, all grown up, with his favorite girl :)

I obtained my 6 Silkies in February and they're about 4 months old. They are Sweetheart, a paint smooth sizzle pullet with peachy skin; Disco, a typical black fuzz nugget pullet; Charlie, a sizzled pullet who I am pretty sure is partridge; Thunder, a splash pullet who goes by "Thunder Pants" or "Thunder Thighs"; and two cockerels; Hamlet, a black smooth sizzle who is such a little gentleman; and Sir Carl van Silkum aka Carl, a sizzled porcelain. As soon as my photos start working I will upload their little fluffy faces.

I hose the overhead trees and let it trickle down, I also keep a good supply of cheap frozen peas and corn in the freezer. In the heat of the day pour them into the water bowls , keeps the water cool and also keeps them busy bobbing for peas.
