Silkie thread!

So the Partridge in the APA is a Brown/Gold Partridge while Gray is Gray/Silver Partridge?  Gosh, photos would be helpful in these descriptions.  The Gray Silkies thread has so many variations of Gray.  Guess it's sort of like the regular Partridge -- a large variety in shades of coloring.

Partridge is a pattern, gold or silver is the color base... similar to duckwing, that's the pattern but it can be gold or silver...

Most common color base is gold in the partridge so it's just usually called partridge...

Too bad you aren't closer... I have an entire flock of blues and blacks that I should really rehome...

New here, but wondering how big Silkie Bantams should be? I bought 4 at TSC (listed as just Bantams) along with 2 White Leghorn pullets and 2 Black Australorps (straight run). We lost one BA the next day, but the remaining 7 are now about 7 weeks old. Well, the 4 Silkies who are supposed to be Bantam are just as big as the Leghorns! And the BA is as small as my 4 week old EEs! I will post pics as soon as I can get some... I'm wondering if they were mislabeled and the BA is the real Bantam... ????

Sorry, I don't ship birds...

Silkies aren't very big. That's odd.

My silkies are of an average size, bigger than my bantam cochin, for sure... but definitely smaller then my EE and other breeds.

My sillier Luna has a new family and she is hard at work this morning teaching them to eat. Her chicks last year were killed by my turkey when they got out their pen. She's a good momma.
