Silkie thread!

Any thoughts on sex? Not the best pictures.

Partridge boys are the easiest to sex early because of their dark, deep, and varied shades of color. I think they will start to grow some black tail streamers which the girls don't get very dark if at all. As for the other colors, wait until they crow or lay an egg LOL.

Silkie necks look long I believe because they are always craning it out to see better. More of a impaired vision side effect

One feature that amazes me about Silkies whether bearded or non-bearded is how l-o-n-g their neck stretches: Or how they can hide such a long neck inside all their fluff.
Oh, I know right!? It makes it harder to get pictures of them up close without chopping part of their head off in the picture. Especially because chickens aren't big on standing still for photos

I keep hearing this about partridges, but I think it depends on the breeding line. I've got a partridge who just started crowing, and the coloration looks like the female in these pictures, just with streamers.

Better close up pictures. The last one doesn't have any waddles or comb development.

I am super excited. I just, or rather my broody just hatched my first paint showgirl! I have wanted one for quite a long time. Its neck is pink with some black spots on it? My paints often hatch with light beaks that darken up in the first weeks.
